The Whitehead lineage came from England with William Whitehead joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and coming across the ocean with a group of newly converted members. He then travelled across the US with the 8th handcart company. He eventually settled in Franklin, Idaho and then his son and grandson settled in Claresholm, Alberta, Canada in 1906
